Anemonopsis macrophylla
If you lack a shade garden, build yourself a lathhouse to accommodate this Japanese jewel. The divided foliage and dangling lilac flowers add up to a refined statement of elegance in mid to late summer. Requires cool, moist shade and leafy, acidic soil. Slow growing.
Thirty inches. Perennial. at least to zone 7 and maybe zone 4; sources vary.
